SISTAR Reigns Again This Summer: Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart For July Week 2

SISTAR is definitely your go-to group for K-pop summer vibes! The four ladies have topped the charts for the sixth straight summer in a row, this time with their latest hit “I Like That,” which moves up ten spots to become our new No. 1 song. In past years, they also scored No. 1 songs in previous summer months with “Shake It” (2015), “Touch My Body” (2014), “Give It To Me” (2013), “Loving U” (2012), and “So Cool” (2011).

“I Like That” is the title song from SISTAR’s fourth mini-album “Insane Love.” It’s an addictive dance song that mixes futuristic electronic sounds with retro brass elements; the lyrics are about a woman falling in love with a bad guy. “I Like That” won Inkigayo and Show Champion last week. It also topped most independent charts. Congratulations to SISTAR!

Last week’s top two songs both moved down one spot. EXO’s “Monster” is at No. 2, and EXID’s “L.I.E” is at No. 3 this week. By the way, these top three songs have managed the very rare feat of being No. 1 either now or in the past. Congrats to all.

Two other new songs moved up to the Top 10 this week. Moving up 12 spots to No. 5 is the second solo hit for 15& member Baek Yerin. Her latest hit “Bye Bye My Blue” has already performed better than her first solo song, “Across The Universe,” which peaked at No. 8 earlier this year. “Bye Bye My Blue” is an R&B track custom-made to showcase Baek Yerin’s rich voice, about a woman who is fearful of love and separation.

Moving up five spots to No. 7 is the second collaboration between San E and After School’s Raina. Two years ago, the occasional duo enjoyed a big hit with “A Midsummer Night’s Sweetness,” which was one of the most popular duets in 2014. Now, they’re back for the second time with “Sugar & Me,” a cute hip-hop track written by San E himself. The lyrics are about a casual relationship that’s making the transition to a serious one. Raina’s sweet vocals match San E’s witty rapping.
