SONAMOO's Minjae Talks About Finally Getting Recognition As A Singer

On the July 26 episode of JTBC’s new show “Girl Spirit,” SONAMOO’s Minjae took home the crown for her performance of “Shout of Myself.”

Recently, the young idol sat down for an interview to talk about the show and finally being recognized for her singing.

“There were so many other talented performers that I never dreamed I’d be first,” she said. “I was shocked and so happy. The fact that I could get No. 1 at something through my voice was truly an honor.”

Her song, Maya’s “Shout of Myself,” had a personal meaning for her. “The lyrics gave me a lot of comfort [when I was a trainee],” she said. “I wanted to focus on conveying the meaning of the song and I’m glad I got a good result.”

The rest of SONAMOO have also been super supportive! “We joke around that it’ll be good if even one of us becomes famous. I was nervous because I hadn’t stood on stage alone in a long time but both my members and my company supported me a lot. My agency seniors Secret and B.A.P also helped me out.”

Finally, she shared her feelings on seeing her solo track appear on the digital music charts. “Every time we came out with an album, I thought it was amazing to see our songs on the charts. But my solo song! I thought I’d have to be more careful in the future to make up for parts that are lacking.”
