Jun.K's Successful Career In Japan Sets Up Korean Solo Debut

2PM’s Jun.K is currently preparing to drop his first Korean solo album and recently a Korean media outlet examined why fans and the public can look forward to its release.

Jun.K has already launched his solo career in Japan, focusing on a “musician” image rather than an “idol.” A music critic who used to be the editor-in-chief at Japan’s Oricon Style wrote that Jun.K’s solo album in Japanese was one of the most-listened to albums of the year.

“Jun.K has transcended the K-pop genre,” he said. “He has the experience to sing powerful songs and incorporate the best musical styles. The melody is beautiful and the chorus work is moving.”

Jun.K has released two Japanese solo albums between 2014 and 2015, took the No. 1 spot on the Oricon Chart, and completed a successful solo tour in Japan. This concert was also listed as one of the Top 10 live concerts of the year.

Jun.K is said to have a code of using real instruments directly and he is talented in making a “fully completed” song. He participated in the production and lyrics of all the songs on his upcoming Korean solo debut.

“Mr. NO” will be released on August 9.
