'Moonlight Drawn By Clouds' Viewers File Complaints About Kim Yoo Jung's 'Revealing' Scene

Some viewers of KBS’s hit historical drama “Moonlight Drawn by Clouds” have sent in complaints to the Korea Communications Standards Commission (KCSC) regarding a scene in the first episode.

In the scene in question, Kim Yoo Jung’s character Hong Ra On is shown wrapping her chest with bandages in order to disguise herself as a boy, while thinking sadly about her situation and how she was forced by her mother as a child to pretend to be a boy.

On September 7, the KCSC told news outlet OSEN that they received many complaints that the scene should be considered overly revealing because Kim Yoo Jung is a minor. The KCSC says that the scene is under review, but that they will have to consider it within the context of the show’s plot development, so there is no set time frame for when they will decide how to respond.

In another interview, a representative said that although they understand the scene within its context, it seemed to run for a considerably long time within the episode.

A source from “Moonlight Drawn by Clouds” has responded to the complaints by stating, “It is a sad scene about Hong Ra On, who is unable to live as a woman despite being a woman.”

Many other viewers have responded to reports of the complaints by leaving comments such as, “I was watching the show with my parents, but I didn’t think it was awkward at all,” “There was a revealing scene?”, and “Wasn’t it necessary for the story?”.
