On September 13 at midnight, 2PM returned with “Gentlemen’s Game,” their first album in one year and three months.
2PM member Taecyeon participated in writing and composing “Promise (I’ll Be),” the title track of “Gentlemen’s Game.” It’s a blend of future bass, big band, and urban music, with JYP’s resident composer Raphael and Lesley Chiang from Hong Kong joining the track as producers.
In addition to “Promise (I’ll Be),” the 2PM members worked on seven out of the 11 songs on the album. Wooyoung wrote and composed “Giv u Class” and “Humming,” and Chansung wrote and composed “Make Love” and “Can’t Stop Feeling,” and wrote “Uneasy.” Taecyeon also wrote lyrics for “Make Love,” “Can’t Stop Feeling,” and “Perfume.”
After the release of the album, Taecyeon mentioned impending military service for 2PM, saying on SNS, “Comeback! It’s our last promotion before military service! Let’s have fun! Whatever they say.”
