"Beautiful Mind" Cast Members Have Not Yet Received Pay

Cast members of the recent KBS drama “Beautiful Mind” have yet to be paid in full for their work.

The drama premiered on June 20 of this year, and starred Jang Hyuk and Park So Dam. It garnered low ratings despite good reviews, and suffered from an episode reduction that KBS attributed to their plans for airing the Rio Olympics.

On September 20, a source from the industry told TV Report, “The main and supporting actors in ‘Beautiful Mind’ have been unable to receive some outstanding payments yet.” It is said that the production team behind “Beautiful Mind” had told these actors’ agencies that the issue would be resolved prior to Chuseok, which began on September 14. However, payment has now been pushed back to the end of September.

A representative from the agency of one the actors told TV Report over the phone, “The lack of payment isn’t for just some of the actors, it’s for everyone, and we’re all hearing the same information. All we can do is cautiously trust them and wait.”

KBS has responded to these reports by promising that the issue will be resolved soon, and explaining that they are currently in the final stages of negotiations with the drama’s production company.
