Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) Addresses 2016 Lineup Rumors

Although the 2016 Mnet Asia Music Awards are still months away, a rumored lineup has been gaining traction online.

On September 23, a post on an online community stated that the 2016 MAMA would include EXO, I.O.I, Red Velvet, WINNER, iKON, BLACKPINK, and INFINITE.

However, SM, YG, and JYP Entertainment were quick to deny the rumors. “There is no basis for these statements,” the sources said. “Fans can speculate on the lineup online, but it’s still premature. We have not even started discussions in earnest yet.”

CJ E&M, who runs the awards show, also confirmed that the rumors were just rumors. “The rumors appear to have come from China,” they said. “It appears as if they were posted to a famous K-pop site in China. But both confirmation and discussion is still in its premature stages. We will release the lineup ahead of the event, but not yet.”

The 2016 MAMA is scheduled to be held in Hong Kong on December 2.
