Girl Group Member Gets Sentenced To Prison For Marijuana Related Crimes

A 24-year-old girl group member, hereafter referred to as “A,” has been sentenced for cultivating and smoking marijuana.

A was previously arrested for growing marijuana in a flower pot at her home in Gangnam. She also was found to have smoked marijuana at her home last December and in April. She was sentenced to a 3 million won fine (approximately $2,600) at her first trial.

However, the appeals court decided the first sentence was too light considering her crime and sentenced her to six months of prison labor and a year of probation. Furthermore, she has been ordered to complete 80 hours of community service and must pay 6,000 won (approximately $5) for the marijuana she smoked.

A debuted as a vocalist in a six-member band five years ago. After leaving the band, she returned as a girl group member last year.
