Lee Hyori Decides To Prioritize Comeback Over Attending 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards

Fans who were expecting to catch Lee Hyori on stage at the Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA) next week are going to have to take a rain check.

With the 2016 MAMA only a few days away, the “Miss Korea” songstress has expressed regret over having to miss out.

In an interview with media outlet Sports Chosun, she explained that she found herself having to choose between the ceremony and dedicating time to her comeback. She ultimately decided that “devoting [her] heart and soul to the album takes priority.”

Lee Hyori has long been a fixture to the MAMA stage. Since 2003, the singer has been nominated 13 times and has taken four of those titles home. At her last MAMA appearance in 2013, she received the Best Female Artist Award for her “Monochrome” album.

This year’s MAMA will be held on December 2 at the AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong. Artists scheduled to perform include EXO, BTS, TWICE, and GFRIEND.
