SECHSKIES Shares Thoughts On The Decision To Disband 16 Years Ago

Veteran group SECHSKIES recently sat down for an interview, where they talked about the time they officially disbanded.

Debuting in 1997, SECHSKIES shocked many fans when they suddenly announced their disbandment in 2000. However, the group came back together through MBC’s “Infinite Challenge,” and began the process of their return by signing with YG Entertainment. Since then, the group has made their first comeback in 16 years with the track “Three Words.”

Eun Ji Won shared his thoughts on the group’s previous disbandment, saying, “Back then, an idol’s marketability was based on whether or not they could become a sudden but short-lived star. I think the period of disbandment is the hardest thing to go through, no matter what kind of group it is. It’s a hard thing to decide regardless of when they decide to do it. Even though it was really hard to disband when we were popular, I thought that it was the right decision to make at the time.”

In regards to the heated reaction to their disbandment, Kang Sung Hoon replied, “There were fans who supported us because they thought it was sad that we only promoted for a short time. And I think new fans were able to gain momentum from that as well. We recently gave our fans an end-of-the-year present, and our fans have given us a big present. As Eun Ji Won says, just being able to enter the charts is something we’re grateful for. In 2017, we’ll be returning with a new song. ”

Meanwhile, SECHSKIES recently dropped their latest album “2016 Re-ALBUM.”
