Starship Entertainment And King Kong Entertainment Officially Merge

Starship Entertainment and King Kong Entertainment registered their merger on January 2.

The agencies mutually agreed to use the name Starship Entertainment while the division that manages the actors will be operating under the label “King Kong by Starship.” After the merger, Starship Entertainment CEO Kim Shi Dae and King Kong Entertainment CEO Lee Jin Sung will be managing operations as usual, as joint CEOs.

Back in May 2015, Starship Entertainment had acquired 100 percent of King Kong Entertainment’s shares in a strategic partnership alliance. Over a period of a one and a half years, the two companies have been synergizing through collaborations in both big and small marketing projects, thereby creating a blueprint for future businesses.

Starship Entertainment said, “Through this merger, we will gain a foothold in establishing an economy of scale by internalizing the basic key aspects of the entertainment industry within one company, securing the expandability of contents through overseas expansions, increasing the efficiency of contents production by establishing internal processes, and establishing a system that can procure capital for large-scale investments for the branding of contents and Starship Entertainment if necessary.”

Industry insiders predict that the artists under both companies will be able to build a great synergy between them. Starship Entertainment has SISTAR, K.Will, Boyfriend, Junggigo, Mad Clown, Yoo Seung Woo, MONSTA X, and Cosmic Girls among others, while King Kong Entertainment has Lee Kwang Soo, Lee Dong Wook, Kim Bum, Kim Ji Won, Yoo Yeon SeokJo Yoon Hee, and many more. It’s an impressive lineup that will create a foundation on which diverse contents can be created, allowing the company to make a significant mark on the domestic entertainment industry.
