Jung Il Woo Begins Alternative Military Service After Wrapping Up Basic Training

Actor Jung Il Woo completed basic training on January 5 and has begun his alternative military service. He entered the Nonsan army training center in December 2016, and has since completed his four weeks of basic training.

A representative of Jung Il Woo confirmed the news on January 9, adding that, “Jung Il Woo was extremely disappointed that he could not serve on active duty. He expressed the desire to fulfill his military service requirements, even if it has to be through alternative service.”

Jung Il Woo was given a “Grade 4 Alternative Service” verdict during his conscription examination due to a car accident he was involved in 10 years ago. In 2013, he was diagnosed with a cerebral aneurysm, which is caused by a swelling of blood vessel walls. The actor made the decision to decline a re-evaluation and a possible exemption, opting for alternative service instead so he could complete his military service duties.
