Girls' Generation's Seohyun Candidly Discusses Being In A Group And Showing Her True Colors

Seohyun’s solo debut album, “Don’t Say No,” is just around the corner! On January 16, she held a solo showcase where she performed her new tracks for the first time.

At the showcase, she disclosed her thoughts about going solo and some of the hidden efforts she had to put into the production of her album.

She said, “As part of Girls’ Generation, there were some things I would have liked to do but couldn’t do. Because we have many members and a set concept that we have to follow, I didn’t have the chance to show my own lyrics. I’m very proud of my solo album because I participated in all parts of the production.”

Seohyun has written the lyrics for six out of the seven songs in her album, fulfilling her wish to express her own messages.

But it wasn’t easy for her, as she revealed, “Our company is very strict. I’ve submitted lyrics for Girls’ Generation and TTS songs in the past, but 90 percent of them didn’t pass. They said it would be unlikely that I’d be able to use my own lyrics in my solo album, but I told them I would give it my all and worked really hard on every single song. I was really glad when one of my lyrics passed, but then my other lyrics passed one by one, and I was very happy.”

Her efforts to express herself in this album are also evident in her disagreements with SM Entertainment regarding her concept.

“The truth is, our company was against a mature concept for my solo album. They suggested that I play the guitar and have the concept of a young girl. But I believe that I have many sides that have not been revealed yet. I wanted to show everything I had that I hadn’t revealed yet, “she conveyed.

It seems that Seohyun has worked harder than ever on her solo album. Check out her latest teaser here!
