Watch: Rising Star Female Idol Wows "King of Masked Singer" Panel With Her Performance

On the January 22 episode of “King of Masked Singer,” “Ant Girl” was unmasked to reveal a talented young idol who made a big impression on many people in 2016.

In this episode, contestants “Party Queen Grasshopper” and “Workaholic Ant Girl” performed a duet in the first round.

They sang Jo Su Mi’s “If I Leave,” and both singers left the judges amazed by their voices. Nevertheless, only one singer could go on to the next round, and “Grasshopper” ended up winning.

“Ant Girl” then performed Lee Sun Hee’s “A Bout of Laughter” and took off her mask, and was revealed to be gugudan’s Kim Sejeong. After she took off her mask, the panelists continued to praise her for her voice.

Kim Sejeong joked with host Kim Sung Joo after her reveal that she has become known for acting like an old man sometimes, and that she showed her usual mannerisms on the show despite trying not to.

“My fellow gugudan members told me to be as feminine as possible,” she said, but admitted with a laugh that she hadn’t been able to act on the show like her group members wanted. “I’m just going to live this way!” she joked.

Kim Sejeong first gained a following when she appeared as a contestant on the competition show “Produce 101,” on which she earned a spot in the temporary girl group I.O.I. She later joined the group gugudan for their debut in June of 2016. She has since also released a hit solo single entitled “Flower Way” (which earned Kim Sejeong her first solo win on a music show last November) as well as an OST for “The Legend of the Blue Sea.”
