Akdong Musician Shows Appreciation Toward YG Entertainment For Making Their Dreams Come True

Akdong Musician’s Lee Chan Hyuk and Lee Soo Hyun sat down for a interview recently and talked about how grateful they are towards YG Entertainment for letting them achieve their dreams.

Before they set foot in the entertainment industry, Akdong Musician’s parents had been worried about their future, like any parent would be. Lee Soo Hyun explained, “Our parents always worried about my brother’s future. It was odd since he’s good at writing and producing songs but he didn’t seem like he had an exact dream. Then we won on ‘K-Pop Star’ and everything naturally worked out. It was amazing.”

The singers pointed out that YG Entertainment is also like family to them since the company goes out of its way to support them. Lee Soo Hyun said, “At first, the company didn’t intervene much with our activities, which made me wonder, ‘Do they not care about us?’ But we knew that they respect our opinion just as much, so we are very thankful. We are grateful that they trust in us.”

Akdong Musician’s unique way of creating songs is by having just one other person as a engineer as the siblings work together. The siblings have been used to working with each other for a long time, and this is the way that their signature vibe is created.

“One time, a professional YG director came to work with us,” Lee Soo Hyun explained. “Everything went well but it didn’t quite match with us. So we told our CEO (Yang Hyun Suk) and we recorded everything all over again the next day.”

Lee Chan Hyuk remarked how meaningful YG Entertainment is to them, saying, “YG is a place that made our music dreams come true. It’s not common to see people do what they want and get paid for it these days. I was once the poorest and dreamless kid among my friends, but to see myself doing what I want for a living now is a blessing on its own.”

The brother-sister duo Akdong Musician debuted in 2014 under YG Entertainment and most recently released their full album “Winter” on January 3, featuring their hit title track “Last Goodbye.”
