
Red Velvet Proves Their "Global Idol" Status, Topping International Charts With "Rookie"
Red Velvet is receiving love from all over the world for their fourth mini-album “Rookie.”
“Rookie” was released on February 1 at midnight KST on iTunes, and has since topped the overall charts in eight countries of Argentina, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Malta. They also reached the Top 10 on the overall iTunes charts in 20 countries, and topped the pop genre album charts in 14 countries that included Turkey, Greece, Finland, Belize, and Argentina. Their impressive run has proven just how much Red Velvet is loved around the world.
The album also topped various domestic album charts such as the Hanteo Charts and Synnara Records. The title track “Rookie” also came in at first place on the K-pop charts of Xiami Music, a popular music ranking chart in China.
On top of this, their new music was introduced by Billboard in their K-pop column corner “K-TOWN” in a post titled, “Red Velvet Discovers Pop Wonderland in ‘Rookie’ Music Video: Watch.” The article went on to explain the girl group’s colorful new music video in depth, as well as their new album as a whole.
