Lee Ji Hoon Reveals He Had High Possibility Of Love Triangle In "The Legend Of The Blue Sea"

Lee Ji Hoon recently revealed that Heo Chi Hyun, his character in “The Legend of the Blue Sea,” actually had an 80 percent chance of being in a love triangle with Shim Cheong (Jun Ji Hyun) and Heo Joon Jae (Lee Min Ho).

A few hints of this were seen in the middle half of the drama, where Shim Cheong and Heo Chi Hyun had hung out together a few times. Although Heo Chi Hyun had been approaching Shim Cheong on purpose because of her closeness to Heo Joon Jae, there were times where it felt like he genuinely enjoyed his time with her, giving rise to hopes for a love triangle. However, the interactions dropped off quickly once Heo Chi Hyun set himself against them completely, leaving viewers to wonder what exactly the relationship between Heo Chi Hyun and Shim Cheong was.

Lee Ji Hoon said, “I also saw many comments asking for a love triangle. As I looked through them, I got curious, so I asked the writer if there would be one. After the writer said, ‘There’s an 80 percent chance that there will be a love triangle,’ I called my company immediately. I said that they were going to connect me and Jun Ji Hyun. Although that was just my dream,” as he ended with a laugh.

When asked how he felt about the story developing differently, the actor said, “The writer must have thought that it would be better if the story developed in that direction. To be honest, I had also hoped for it to turn out that way.”

Finally, Lee Ji Hoon talked about how it felt acting alongside Jun Ji Hyun.

“Everyone likes Jun Ji Hyun right? During my school days, when I saw ‘Windstruck,’ I really liked it. That’s why at first I was really amazed, thinking, ‘This is real.’ It was great acting with a person whom I’ve [only] seen on TV and in movies when I was a child. Being able to act with a person like that, I thought that this is really the life. Before I knew it, I had acted with Jun Ji Hyun. I feel really pleased [by this.]”
