'Produce 101' Season 2 To Begin Filming Soon

On February 9, it was revealed that the second season of Mnet’s “Produce 101” would be entering production next month.

The show is still recruiting trainees as they do not yet have a lineup of 101 male trainees. SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, YG Entertainment, Big Hit Entertainment, Cube Entertainment, and Starship Entertainment have all declined to send trainees to the show. On the other hand, Fantagio and Pledis Entertainment have both been confirmed to be sending trainees for the second season’s lineup.

Fantagio’s Choi Yoojung and Kim Doyeon both received a lot of attention during the first season of “Produce 101” and anticipation for the girl group they will be debuting in this year is high. Pledis Entertainment’s Zhou Jieqiong and Nayoung also received a lot of love during their promotions as part of I.O.I. The two will be debuting in the girl group Pristin and a number of “debut projects” have been released to build anticipation for their debut.

Furthermore, trainees from Vibe member Yoon Min Soo’s company will also be participating in the new season of “Produce 101.”

The show is also still looking for a female MC for the new season after it was confirmed that actor Jang Geun Suk would not be returning to MC the new season. In the first season of “Produce 101,” Jang Geun Suk skillfully carried the show even through live broadcasts with his seasoned MC skills. The show has asked a number of singers and actresses already but has yet to receive confirmation from any of them.
