“Hwarang” Comes To An End As Ratings Battle For Monday-Tuesday Dramas Continues

Despite the tense scenes between Park Seo Joon and Park Hyung Sik, “Hwarang” unfortunately came last in terms of viewership ratings.

According to the February 22 results released by Nielsen Korea, KBS 2TV’s Monday-Tuesday drama “Hwarang” received 7.9 percent ratings, which is a 1 percent increase from the ratings for their first episode.

The drama had previously received lots of attention for its flower boy cast and interesting premise. However, as “Hwarang” progressed, its weaknesses showed in the sluggish development and the inconsistent character appearances. Nevertheless, thanks to the performance of the actors, the last episode showed a slight increase in ratings.

SBS’s “Defendant” brought in 22.2 percent ratings as the drama continues to maintain its position in first place, while MBC’s “Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People” brought in 11.5 percent ratings.

Meanwhile, “Perfect Wife” (tentative title) is set to air after “Hwarang.”
