GFRIEND Tops Chart With "Fingertip"; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2017, March Week 4
GFRIEND’s track “Fingertip” is the new No. 1 song this week after moving up from No. 12 last week. This song has not yet won on any major music shows but GFRIEND’s popularity carries them to the top of our chart. Just like TWICE, GFRIEND debuted in 2015 and has already risen to become one of the top female groups in K-pop. Congratulations to GFRIEND!
“Fingertip” is the title song from GFRIEND’s fourth mini-album “The Awakening.” It is an addictive dance song about a young women who is in love for the first time. GFRIEND shed their previous school girl image for a more mature style with this song, as half of their members are entering their twenties this year.
The top three spots are all taken by female singers this week, as No. 2 is Taeyeon’s “Fine.” This song was predicted to have the best chance to hit the top spot this week. It was placed above TWICE’s two week champion “Knock Knock,” which fell to No. 3 despite picking up another three music show wins last week. However, both songs were overtaken by “Fingertip.”
There are two more new songs in the top 10 this week. Moving up nine spots to No. 4 is BTOB’s “Movie,” which is the title track from BTOB’s latest mini-album “Feel’eM.” Written by member Jung Il Hoon, “Movie” is a punk style dance track that is based on a keyboard and brass arrangement. It tells the story of a man who has fallen in love with a wounded woman, much like the script of a romantic movie.
Moving up 15 spots to No. 8 is the first top 10 hit for R&B musician Jungkey. His self-composed song “Anymore” features the voice of MAMAMOO’s Wheein. It is an emotional ballad that showcases Wheein’s fine vocals, and the lyrics are about a couple’s strained relationship.
