7 Actors You Didn't Know Could Rap

It’s a rare gem when you stumble upon an actor who has the ability to rap. It takes a special kind of actor with a lot of rhythm and swag to pull it off. Here’s a look at six actors who have graced us with their smooth verses.

1. So Ji Sub

It’s no secret that So Ji Sub has always had a passion for rapping. He released his first mini-album in 2012 and has even collaborated with ballad powerhouses Huh Gak and Bobby Kim. In 2013, So Ji Sub released another EP where he was able to use his connections in the acting industry to create a music drama, which starred Park Shin Hye and Yoo Seung Ho. Although many people were not always supportive of his rapping career, So Ji Sub has remained strong and firm as he continues to release new material on a consistent basis.

Here’s the song where So Ji Sub is giving a piece of his mind to his haters:

2. Kim Min Jae

Seriously, what can’t this cutie do? Kim Min Jae, whose rap alias is Real.be, is an up-and-coming actor who was most recently in the hit dramas “Goblin” and “Romantic Doctor Kim.” He got signed to an agency when he was in high school, which is where he became an idol trainee for three years. Kim Min Jae eventually auditioned for the fourth season of “Show Me The Money,” a rap survival show. San E was especially impressed with his rapping skills and passed him through to the second round without any hesitation.

3. Lee Joon Gi

Lee Joon Gi is known to have lots of energy; he likes to break out in dance and song on a whim. So it’s really no revelation that he has the ability to rap. He’s not very public about his rapping skills, but he is known to showcase his musical abilities at his fan meetings. He was even able to be part of a musical while he was in the military. It’s always good times when you can catch a glimpse of him performing on stage – what a natural!

4. Jang Hyuk

Yes, believe it or not, the Jang Hyuk, who most recently played the rough and tough cop in OCN’s “Voice,” was once a rapper. In 2000, under the name TJ (“The Jang Hyuk Project”), he released a rap album and also starred in his own music videos. He explains now that at the time, he was ambitious and wanted to be seen as versatile in the entertainment industry.

Here he is on “Music Camp” rapping and dancing:

 5. Jo Jung Suk

Not that he’s a self-proclaimed rapper or anything, but we definitely got a sneak peak of what his rapping skills would be like in his most recent drama, “Don’t Dare to Dream (Jealousy Incarnate).” With his career beginning in musical theater, it only makes sense that he’d be able to carry a beat!

Although this barely qualifies him as being a “rapper,” you have to admit, he does have flow, right?

6. Song Joong Ki

I’m cheating a bit here, because Song Joong Ki is not known to be rapper, nor is he that musical, but I had to include him on this list. Having once been an MC for the show “Music Bank,” Song Joong Ki was able to collaborate with rapper Outsider on one of his songs called “Loner.” Check out his hidden rap talent!

7. Yang Dong Geun

Last, but not least, the actor with a lot of swag and a lot of rhythm. This guy never fails to impress his fans with his not-so-hidden rap talent and was even chosen to be a producer on Show Me The Money 3. Everyone was impressed with how he was able to combine his acting skills to his rap performances.
