Producer Of "Newlywed Diary" Hopes For A 2nd Season With Ahn Jae Hyun And Ku Hye Sun

Ahn Jae Hyun and Ku Hye Sun’s reality program “Newlywed Diary” was a hit, garnering around three percent viewer ratings. It even managed to get an extended episode and a director’s cut, which is unprecedented for any pilot variety program.

However, the show received some criticism for being too out of touch with reality, and PD (program director) Lee Woo Hyung acknowledged this. He said, “Since I can’t talk about the lives of every newlywed couple, I decided to focus on the Ahn-Ku (Ahn Jae Hyun and Ku Hye Sun) couple. Instead of trying to reflect real life, I wanted to provide viewers with a romantic, fantastical, heart-fluttering experience through this couple.”

Many viewers expressed that they were able to see a new side to Ku Hye Sun, who has the image of an unapproachable actress. “Even I was prejudiced about Ku Hye Sun before we began planning the show. I thought she would be difficult to approach, but I realized that I was wrong after filming with her. While Ahn Jae Hyun has a more detailed personality, Ku Hye Sun is easygoing. I want to thank her for putting the producers before herself,” PD Lee Woo Hyung stated.

Because “Newlywed Diary” dealt with the story of a real couple, there were some unexpected situations like when the couple started fighting. The PD revealed, “I was actually very scared, thinking, ‘What if they really break up?’ It got very serious when they were fighting, but apparently they always fight like that. They say their angry feelings disappear once they vent by fighting. And when they’re done fighting, they look as close as ever. It was amazing and bewildering at the same time.”

With many people asking for a second season, the PD replied, “I can’t guarantee it, but I’d be very happy to have one. I think we would have to have the Ahn-Ku couple again for season two, but if it had to be a new couple, Rain and Kim Tae Hee would be nice as well. Lots of celebrities are getting married these days, and any couple is a candidate if they’re a star newlywed couple.”
