YG Entertainment Signs "Show Me The Money" PD And More

On April 21, a source stated that Choi Hyo Jin PD (producing director) from “Show Me The Money 5” recently signed on with YG Entertainment.

It has also been reported that after Choi Hyo Jin PD signed with YG Entertainment, other Mnet PDs followed in her footsteps. A contract is said to be imminent with Han Dong Chul PD, who managed YG Entertainment’s survival variety shows such as “WIN” and “Mix & Match.”

Other Mnet PDs reportedly joining YG Entertainment include Park Joon Soo PD of mockumentary show “God of Music,” and Lee Sang Yoon PD, also from “Show Me The Money.” A powerful contents production team is said to be forming with these recent additions.

Previously, it was reported that YG Entertainment was discussing contracts with PDs from major MBC shows. Contracts are said to have been finalized with at least Jae Young Jae from “Infinite Challenge,” and Kim Jong Min, previous head of the program “Real Men.”

Naver also recently became the second largest shareholder in YG Entertainment, after which YG Entertainment made official statements regarding its intent to increasingly produce content internally and partner with Naver to “develop into a content leader.” These recent contracts with PDs are clearly part of YG Entertainment’s efforts to achieve that goal.

As YG Entertainment builds its in-house production team, many are looking forward to seeing what kind of original content they will produce.
