Girl's Day's Yura Shares How Popular She Was During Her Pre-Debut Days

Girl’s Day member Yura recently participated in a pictorial for International bnt and opened up about her shining pre-debut days.

Yura, who was famous for her beauty even back when she was a student, admitted that she had been quite popular among her peers. She revealed that her personal page on Cyworld, which used to be one of the most popular social media sites in Korea, had received approximately 200 to 300 hits per day.

“About 60 entertainment companies tried to recruit me. I was 19 years old back then, and I really wanted to debut before graduating from high school. Because I was looking for a company that could let me debut as soon as possible, I missed the opportunity to enter a really good agency. However, I eventually joined my current company and was able to debut as a Girl’s Day member after a month of training,” she shared.

She also talked about some of the difficulties she went through during her early debut days. “I was really scared of the camera back then, and because I had to show off a chic image, I had to hide my real personality. I’m usually very easy-going and playful, so it was quite frustrating to maintain a mysterious image,” she expressed.

“I also had a hard time dieting. The people at my company would check my weight once a day. It’s not as intense now though. I just reduce my carb intake during promotions,” she added.
