Kim Min Jung Wins Lawsuit Against Business That Violated Her Publicity Rights

Actress Kim Min Jung won a lawsuit against the business that continued to use her images to advertise their products even after their contract was over.

The Seoul Western Regional District Settlement Court section 11 ruled that the food business ‘H’ was to pay Kim Min Jung 90 million won (approximately $79,300) in damages.

The court ruled, “Business ‘H’ continued using Kim Min Jung’s images after the contract period was over and, therefore, infringed upon her publicity rights.”

Business ‘H’ continued to use photos of Kim Min Jung on its menu, signs, website, and advertisements after the contract period was over. Kim Min Jung’s representatives asked them to stop twice; however, when business ‘H’ did not adhere, Kim Min Jung sued them for 250 million won (approximately $220,000).
