[UPDATED] Autopsy Results: Daesung Responsible for Victim’s Death

On May 31st, Big Bang’s Daesung was involved in a car accident that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist (Hyun, 30). Throughout the past month, there have been many speculations as to whether Daesung caused the victim’s death when he ran over the motorcyclist who was laying on the street from an earlier accident.

According to the police, the National Forensic Service’s autopsy results reported the victim hit a streetlamp prior to Daesung’s involvement, injuring his face, neck, and his back. The police also hinted it was difficult to differentiate what injuries resulted from which accident. At the briefing this morning, the police announced, “While the victim was severly injured from the prior accident, the second accident occured within 132 seconds of the previous. We have come to the conclusion that Hyun most likely did not die during that 132 seconds.” Additionally, new findings proved that Daesung hit and dragged the body 22.8 meters from the point of the accident.

It was previously reported that the victim was under the influence of the alcohol at the time, with a blood alcohol level of 0.186. Despite initial speculations about a hit and run, it’s been proven that the motorcyclist swerved and hit a streetlight. Additionally, the taxi’s security camera (black box) proved that Daesung was driving 10-20 km/h over the speed limit.

The law states that for negligent driving and manslaughter, Daesung could be jailed for up to 5 years or pay a penalty of approximately $20,000. However, Daesung’s exact charge is yet unknown.
