MBC "Knee-Drop Guru" Extends Chuseok Special to Accomodate Jang Geun Suk's Star Power

For the sake of popular actor Jang Geun Suk, also dubbed the “Neo-Hallyu” (new-generation Hallyu wave), MBC’s “Golden Fishery: Knee-Drop Guru” will air his appearance over two episodes, on Sept 7 and Sept 14. What’s more, his episode on Sept 7 will be extended by 10 minutes. An MBC spokesman said, “Jang Geun Suk is now known as the next-generation Hallyu star, and in consideration to the high interest he will be attracting, we have decided to devote more air time for him.”

The Knee-Drop Guru production staff had gone through much difficulty inviting Jang Geun Suk to appear for the recording of the Chuseok Special. Jang Geun Suk’s recording at the Ilsan MBC Dream Center on Aug 31 was carried out in a mere two days after he finally agreed to the invitation on Aug 29.

PD Park Jung Kyu said, “When we had our meeting on Aug 29, I was surprised to see overseas fans who had come in search of him. I realized that he is currently going through his greatest popularity.”

PD Park Jung Kyu continued, “Throughout the recording, I was constantly surprised by how smart he is. The way he answered the MC’s questions so wisely and sensibly, it left a deep impression on me. Even if his appearance is aired over two weeks, the footage is absolutely worth it.”

It has been reported that Jang Geun Suk will talk about his overseas activities and how it feels to be one of the biggest Hallyu stars in the world. Also, he is said to have addressed recent rumors of him dating figure skating star Kim Yuna.

Through drama “You Are Beautiful,” Jang Geun Suk shot to fame in Japan and many parts of Asia. He is also a successful singer and has recently hit #1 on Japan’s Oricon Chart.
