Park Jin Young Sued for over $100K for "Someday" Plagiarism Controversy

Several months ago, Soompi reported that Park Jin Young was under for alleged plagiarism accusations for “Someday,” which was sung by IU as a part of the drama Dream High‘s” official soundtrack.

Singer and CEO of JYP Entertainment, Park Jin Young has been sued for 110 million won (~$103K) for allegedly plagiarizing ASH‘s “To My Man,” which was composed by Kim Shin Il.

According to Kim, “Park Jin Young’s ‘Someday’ uses the chorus of the song as the introduction just like “To My Man.’ Also, the general composition of the song as well as the overall rhythm and harmony of the song are very similar.”

To this JYPE responded, “It is unfortunate, but we will follow through with all legal procedures.” Also, “One can’t call a song plagiarized because of common chord progressions and melodies. We will proceed from here through our legal team.”

Check out a comparison of the two songs below. What’s your verdict?
