Super Junior Remains #1 in Taiwan for 60 Straight Weeks

Super Junior’s “Mi In Ah” has remained #1 on Taiwan’s KKBOX chart for 60 consecutive weeks, extending its record of longest running #1 single in the country’s top music chart history, SM Entertainment said today.

“Super Junior’s ‘Mi In Ah’ ranked #1 on the ‘K-Pop Top 100’ chart of Taiwan’s KKBOX for the week of July 17th to 23rd. They set a record of topping the chart for 60 consecutive weeks,” SME said in a statement. “This record is the longest by any artist in the world in KKBOX history. It is reflective of Super Junior’s explosive popularity in Taiwan,” it added.

Released in the first week of June 2010, “Mi In Ah” was the title track of Super Junior’s fourth regular album. Their fifth regular album is set for release on August 3rd, as the eighth teaser photo of Yesung just came out today.

Super Junior has been one of the most popular K-Pop groups in Taiwan for a while now. Their previous single, “Sorry Sorry,” was a massive hit in Taiwan, topping the KKBOX’s K-Pop chart for 36 straight weeks. Also, Super Junior-M, the sub unit of Super Junior mainly focusing on the Chinese market, has swept multiple Taiwanese music charts lately with “Tae Wan Mi (Perfection).” Siwon and Donghae, meanwhile, began filming for their first Taiwanese drama, “Extravagant Challenge,” in mid-April as the two male lead roles.
