The 2017 K-Pop World Festival Wraps Up With Over 8 Million Tweets Worldwide

Exclusive: The 2017 K-pop World Festival celebrated K-pop’s global popularity with massive engagement from all over the world.

With performances from some of K-pop hottest acts, like BTS and TWICE, as well as K-pop cover performances from 13 teams from around the world, the world’s largest K-pop festival brought the stars and fans of K-pop together in a worldwide celebration.

This year, the 13 country team finalists that passed the global qualifying stage came to the final stage in Changwon on September 29, 2017 to perform in front of the world, with the event being livestreamed on Twitter’s special live page (KBS.twitter.com) and from the KBS World official Twitter account (@KBSworldTV).

The final winner was Tiffani (@tiffaniafifa) and Alphiandi from Indonesia, while the Twitter Popular Choice Award was given to the Turkey team (@sinemkadioglu) for having the highest engagement on Twitter.

There were more than 8 million Tweets combined for the #KWF2017 conversation and live event performances on Twitter from September 13-30, 2017. The official hashtag #KWF2017 became the real-time worldwide trend on Twitter as soon as the event started at 7 p.m. KST on September 29. The global rising interest in the festival and worldwide popularity of K-pop can be seen in the heat map of #KWF2017 Tweets on September 29.
