Here Are Tumblr’s Most Popular K-Pop Groups And Members Of 2017

With 2017 almost over, Tumblr is back with its annual “Tumblr Fandometrics Year In Review.” Once again, BTS tops the K-pop Bands list, with EXO, GOT7, and SEVENTEEN following. These top four spots remain the same as last year. BLACKPINK is the first girl group on the list, jumping up 12 spots from its ranking last year. There are also many new entries in the top 30: Wanna One, DAY6, NCT Dream, GFRIEND, KARD, PRISTIN, Super Junior, NU’EST, BTOB, and EXID.

Similar to BLACKPINK’s impressive rise in popularity on the platform, boy group NCT 127 also shows a giant leap in popularity, jumping 12 spots. Beatrice Vantapool, Content Insights Associate at Tumblr, attributes their outstanding performance this year to their successful comebacks. “BLACKPINK and NCT 127 had a massive year with their respective comebacks, and you can really see their success reflected [in the Year in Review list],” explains Vantapool to Soompi.

For the Top K-pop Band Members list, BTS continues to dominate, with the members taking the top seven spots. The members also appear on the Top Ships list, as the only K-pop related “ships” to do so. Explaining the group’s continued popularity on the platform, Vantapool explains,”The group is very accessible to fans, and the fans can really relate to them.”

Outside of specific K-pop lists, the popular Mnet survival competition show “Produce 101” ranks number 23 on the “Top Live-Action TV Shows” list.

“Tumblr is a platform where fans can really express themselves freely in a variety of ways. [The Fandometrics Year in Review] really reflect the overall trends in K-pop and how popular the artists and content are among the fandoms,” says Vantapool.
