The chief producer of JTBC’s “Sugar Man 2” recently shared his thoughts about Red Velvet’s Joy and comedian Park Na Rae, who joined Yoo Jae Suk and Yoo Hee Yeol as new MCs for the show’s second season.

Yoon Hyun Joon, the chief producer (CP) of the music variety program, reported having been pleasantly surprised by the unexpected chemistry between the show’s four MCs.

“Before the filming of our first episode, I was excited, but also very worried,” he recalled. “However, the filming went well. The MCs exceeded my expectations by achieving a fresh new chemistry, and they did very well.”

“I was extremely satisfied,” he went on. “You can see [their chemistry] just by watching ‘Sugar Man.’ I had no idea they would be this good together.”

Yoon Hyun Joon also specifically praised the new MCs, mentioning that each of them brought something new to the show. “Park Na Rae said that she was an avid fan of ‘Sugar Man,’ and she turned out to know a lot about music,” he remarked. “There’s nothing she doesn’t know. It’s almost like she’s a jukebox.”

The CP revealed that he was looking forward to Joy’s contributions to the show as well. He particularly praised her efforts to learn more about older music, saying, “Joy has a great deal of curiosity about music, and she studies hard.”

He added that because Joy was much younger than the other MCs, he felt that she would bring a fresh, youthful perspective to the show. “Because Joy is in her early twenties,” he explained, “this season seems like an opportunity for us to understand the mindset of many different generations.”

“Sugar Man 2” aired its first episode on January 14, with NU’EST W and gugudan appearing as the first performers of the season. The program, which airs on Sundays at 10:30 p.m. KST, features popular artists performing modern remakes of classic hit songs.
