Artists Currently In Hot Demand For Korean College Festivals
It is festival season at colleges across Korea!
Most universities in Korea hold festivals twice a year, with one in April or May and one in September or October. Mersenne, a company that works on casting for these events, has revealed the most requested artists for the 2018 spring festival season.
A source from Mersenne shared on May 1, “As of May 2018, the most wanted celebrity at college festivals is singer PSY. Even when PSY was taking over the world with ‘Gangnam Style,’ he did not forget and showed his loyalty as he went around to Korean college campuses.”
The source continued, “In addition to PSY, ‘Big 3’ agency girl groups TWICE, Red Velvet, and BLACKPINK, as well as Chungha, Sunmi, MOMOLAND, Heize, MAMAMOO, and Hong Jin Young are showing the most definite popularity.”
The company has also been receiving many requests for WINNER, iKON, hip hop artists including Dynamic Duo and Dok2, and new digital powerhouses like GB9 and Paul Kim.
The representative commented, “As the genres have become more diverse on digital charts, even when it comes to casting for festivals on college campuses this year, rather than being limited to a specific genre or idols, there has been a variety of requests. And even with the more diversified lineups, the king of college festivals will definitely be PSY.”
