12 Korean Web-Dramas That Will Get You Through A Drama Drought

It’s a season of many new K-dramas, which means there are tons to choose from and be excited about. But what happens when all these K-dramas are finished and you’re longing for another series to binge watch? Sometimes web-dramas (super short dramas) are the best to watch because they’re short, sweet, and get straight to the meat of the plot that we’re usually dying to see.

Here’s a solid list of Korean web-dramas to watch the next time you go through that awful K-drama drought.

Splash Splash Love

“Splash Splash Love” stars Highlight’s Yoon Doojoon and the charming Kim Seul Gi in a drama world where history and modern day collide. Dan Bi (Kim Seul Gi) is a high school student who magically transports to the Joseon period. In this unfamiliar environment, she meets King Lee Do (Yoon Doojoon). While the two find comfort in each other’s company, they fall in love and embark on a wild romance. The drama is only two short and sweet episodes, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t watch it already!

Page Turner

“Page Turner” has a cast of very visually appealing stars, which won’t disappoint you. Starring Kim So Hyun, Ji Soo, and Shin Jae Ha, there won’t be a second to be bored. Yoon Yoo Seul (Kim So Hyun), who is under the pressure of her mom, is an aspiring pianist who goes blind in a tragic accident. The best part of this short and sweet drama is the love triangle that ensues between her, Seo Jin Mok (Shin Jae Ha), and Cha Sik (Ji Soo). You’ll want to know who she ends up choosing!

EXO Next Door

I’m pretty sure almost every EXO-L has watched this web drama a hundred times, but even if you’re not stans of the K-pop group, it’s still worth the watch. Starring the EXO members along with Moon Ga Young, this web drama tells the tale of a girl whose favorite group just so happens to move in next door. Sounds like a dream come true, doesn’t it?

“One Sunny Day” is a more slow-paced K-drama that follows Kim Ji Ho (So Ji Sub) and a girl named Kim Ji Ho (Kim Ji Won) as they spend a week on Jeju Island. Both are sent there for work, but So Ji Sub’s character is in the process of getting over a broken heart. As he spends the week in the same guesthouse as Ji Ho, he finds that he is drawn to her cheerful personality. He must sort out his feelings and find out if he is able to love again despite his painful past.

The Universe’s Star

“The Universe’s Star” is the first part of the “Three Color Fantasy” series launched by MBC. It stars EXO’s Suho as the famous singer Woo Joo and Ji Woo as Byul Yi, the angel of death. Byul Yi is Woo Joo’s number one die hard fan and also happens to bump into him by chance one fateful day. The two embark on a unique relationship and although Woo Joo doesn’t see it at first, he realizes how strong his feelings for Byul Yi really are. It’s a dark but romantic tale that can’t be missed!

Secret Message

T.O.P plays Woo Hyun, an aspiring filmmaker who starts conversing with a Japanese woman named Haruka (Ueno Juri) through a mobile messaging app. Although they are not communicating in the same language, they are able to understand what the other is saying through translations. It’s a beautiful and simple romantic tale that shows that language barriers know no bounds when it comes to love. If you’re a fan of T.O.P, you don’t want to miss his amazing acting skills in this role!

20’s

“20’s” is an adorable series starring Lee Da In and Highlight’s Lee Gi Kwang. The story is like a fairy-tale dream come true as it follows two friends, who previously attended middle school together, meeting again in college. What’s changed in college is that Gi Kwang is now a very famous K-pop star. Although the two have been apart for awhile, they rekindle their friendship and find themselves in a whirlwind of a romance. It’s a romantic and adorable series where you’ll find yourself never wanting it to end!

7 First Kisses

This drama was way too short. Starring Lee Cho Hee as the Lotte Duty Free employee who has never dated, “7 First Kisses” gained a lot of publicity with its mega Hallyu star-studded cast, which included the likes of Choi Ji Woo, Lee Joon Gi, Park Hae Jin, Ji Chang Wook, EXO’s Kai, 2PM’s Taecyeon, Lee Jong Suk, and Lee Min Ho. I know, right? Enough said.

Love Cells

“Love Cells” stars a very young Kim Yoo Jung, Park Sun Ho, and Nam Ji Hyun. It’s a fantasy rom-com about Navi (Kim Yoo Jung), a cat that looks like a human. Navi teaches Ma Dae Choong (Park Sun Ho) all about love as he hasn’t been lucky when it comes to relationships. He particularly has his eye on mega star, Seo Rin (Nam Ji Hyun). You’ll also get a kick out of seeing a young Kim Woo Bin in the series!

Gogh, The Starry Night

Probably one of my favorite web dramas on this list, “Gogh, The Starry Night” stars Go Ho (Kwon Yuri) as a single woman who works at an advertising company. She’s one lucky lady as there are several men who make their advances at her. Will she choose Kang Tae Ho (Kim Young Kwang), Hwang Ji Hoon (Lee Ji Hoon), or Oh Jung Min (Shin Jae Ha)? It’s an entertaining watch and you’ll be happy to see who or how she ends up picking her man!
