tvN To Launch Drama Series With A New Style, Including Stars Shin Dong Yup And Jung Sang Hoon
tvN is launching a new drama series that will be a combination of a drama and variety show.
On June 20, a source from tvN shared, “It’s a series airing once a week on Friday. It’ll be a drama series with a new style, never tried before in traditional dramas.”
They continued, “‘Big Forest’ [literal translation] is the first drama and ‘Top Star Yoo Baek’ [literal translation] will be a follow-up. They’re scheduled for the latter half of the year.”
“Big Forest” will be directed by producing director (PD) Park Soo Won who has previously worked on “Prison Playbook.” Shin Dong Yup and Jung Sang Hoon, who have shown off their hilarious chemistry on “SNL Korea” in the past, are confirmed to reunite for the new drama.
“Top Star Yoo Baek,” on the other hand, will be directed by PD Yoo Hak Chan. A PD who has worked more on variety shows than dramas, Yoo Hak Chan has directed shows like “The Romantic,” “Three Idiots,” “My Ear’s Candy,” and “Plus Nine Boys.”
According to a news outlet, “Top Star Yoo Baek” tells the story of popular celebrity Yoo Baek who is sent off to an isolated island after making a big mistake. The drama will center on the blooming romance between city guy Yoo Baek and country girl Kang Soon. It is reportedly set to air in November.
