Hyun Bin Talks About Trying To Be A New Kind Of Villain In Film With Son Ye Jin

August 9, actors Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin appeared at a press conference for the upcoming premiere of the film “Negotiation,” in which Hyun Bin plays Min Tae Gu, a ruthless criminal that orchestrates a hostage situation, and Son Ye Jin plays Ha Chae Yoon, a talented crisis negotiator called in to handle the situation.

At the press conference, Hyun Bin talked about his approach playing the villain in the film. He said, “These days, hearing about this film, I hear the phrase ‘first villain role’ a lot. Rather than that, I worked hard to portray the complex emotions that this character has. One of the things I discussed a lot with the director was that we didn’t want this character to be the typical villain. We spent a lot of time finding out a way to do that.”

Hyun Bin continued, “I looked for ways different ways to approach scenes, for example, being gentle and soft for a scene that would otherwise be intense.” The actor said that once casting was finalized, he, Son Ye Jin, and the director met up to talk about the film at length.

Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin’s new film is set to premiere in September.
