MBC’s new variety show “Unexpected Q” has informed its viewers that it may not be around for much longer.

On the August 25 episode of the show, producing director (PD) Choi Haeng Ho held a special meeting with MCs Jun Hyun Moo, Lee Soo Geun, Yoo Se Yoon, SECHSKIES’s Eun Ji Won, and SEVENTEEN’s Seungkwan.

“There’s a reason I’ve gathered everyone here today,” said the PD. “‘Unexpected Q’ is facing a huge crisis.” He went on to explain that MBC would soon be reorganizing its programming schedule and lineup, and due to the show’s low viewership ratings, “Unexpected Q” was in danger of being permanently canceled.

“Unexpected Q” premiered in May as a replacement for the long-running hit variety show “Infinite Challenge,” which abruptly ended its first season earlier this year. However, despite sharing the same time slot, “Unexpected Q” has not been able to maintain the high viewership ratings enjoyed by “Infinite Challenge.”

“There are only about 10 episodes left before reprogramming begins,” continued Choi Haeng Ho. “[In order to save the show,] we need to achieve viewership ratings of 10 percent.”

He added optimistically, “Even if we don’t reach 10 percent, if we receive more love and interest from viewers than we are right now, maybe we can hope for a change in time slot [as opposed to cancellation].”
