Spoiler

Despite his best efforts, “Samulnori Boy” was unable to garner more votes than “Black Swan” and had to unmask himself. He revealed he was none other than Kang Hong Seok!

Not only does he boast an impressive and extensive repertoire of musicals, the actor also starred in the hit drama “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim,” where he received much love for his character Yang Cheol.

When asked if his dream was originally to be just an actor or a musical actor, Kang Hong Seok shared, “Honestly, it was to be a singer. When I was in my early 20s, I went on leave from school, moved to Seoul, and tried really hard because I wanted to become a singer. I ended up debuting as a musical actor at the suggestion of a senior at my school.”

He expressed, “It was really nice that I was able to express my energy to my heart’s desire. I always watched my seniors as an audience member, so it was a very different feeling to have them watch my performances today. I think I will always remember today fondly. I will continue to do my best wherever I am, whether it be performances, films, or dramas.”

“The King of Mask Singer” airs every Sunday at 4:50 p.m. KST.
