BTS Maintains Top Spot With 'IDOL'; Soompi's K-Pop Music Chart 2018, October Week 2

BTS’s “IDOL” has joined in on the history of our chart to spend six weeks as No. 1 song! The only other three songs to achieve this immortal feat are BIGBANG’s “Lie” (which is the only song that spent seven weeks on top), Wonder Girls’ “Tell Me,” CNBLUE’s “Love,” and PSY’s “Gangnam Style.” “IDOL” again is the only song scoring over 900 points this week. In fact, BTS might be able to challenge BIGBANG’s all-time record on our chart next week. Congratulations again to BTS!

Holding steady at No. 2 again is Sunmi’s “Siren.” Although this song has gradually decreased in points the last three weeks, it is still scoring better than the rest (except for “IDOL”).

Moving up four spots to No. 3 is Im Chang Jung’s “There Has Never Been A Day I Haven’t Loved You.” This song won on “Inkigayo” and “Music Core” last week and also topped most internet charts.

There is only one new song in the top 10 this week. Debuting at No. 10 is iKON’s latest hit “Goodbye Road.” This is the title song from iKON’s mini-album “NEW KIDS: THE FINAL.” Unlike all of iKON’s previous hit songs, “Goodbye Road” is an R&B ballad that shows a different side of iKON. The heartfelt lyrics describe the emotions of letting go of a love that brought so much joy and happiness. “Goodbye Road” poses the most serious threat to “IDOL” in terms of next week’s results. When the TV Station chart scores are accounted for “Goodbye Road” next week, it should be very close to the top spot!
