Exclusive First Look: Rising Artist Marteen Greets His Fans And Hangs Out With NCT 127 In His

Rising star Marteen looks ready to take over the world in his sentimental music video for “NOTHANK YOU,” the lead track off his official debut EP of the same name.

In the music video, the Berkeley-born singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist can be seen enthusiastically greeting his fans on stage and off in Jakarta, Indonesia and Seoul, South Korea in September of this year, as Marteen visited for a festival and a headlining show, respectively. At 17 years old, he already has a worldwide fan base that’s eager to consume the young artist’s specific brand of pop music, flowing with an R&B edge and aesthetically driven by the latest fashion trends. Marteen has already earned buzz from the New York Times, Billboard, Paper Magazine, VMan, Just Jared, Galore, and W Korea, and has also toured with the likes of Kehlani and Dua Lipa.

Marteen also recently collaborated with NCT 127 on their song “What We Talkin’ Bout.” He first connected with NCT 127 when members Taeyong and Ten danced to his song “We Cool” during one of their live streams earlier this year, and in the video for “NOTHANKYOU,” he meets up with a few members.

“NOTHANKYOU” was produced by multi platinum super producer JR Rotem, and is the title track of Marteen’s EP “NOTHANKYOU,” which was released on February 23 of this year. The EP has gone gold in Korea, and has gained him thousands of fans there, many of which first heard about him from his song “Sriracha.”

Reflecting on “NOTHANKYOU,” Marteen told Soompi, “I made this song to let people know you can’t put me in a box. I’m not like another artist, and I don’t want to be. I’m going to always do what I want, regardless of anyone’s opinion.”

Marteen’s next project is set to be released this winter.
