Police Ask Interpol To Put Microdot's Parents On Red Notice Wanted Persons List

The police station investigating Microdot’s parents for fleeing the country after borrowing several hundred million won (100 million won is approximately $89,000) from friends, neighbors, and acquaintances will be requesting that Interpol issue a Red Notice for the couple.

A Red Notice is a request to locate and arrest wanted persons pending extradition for prosecution. However, whether or not a country arrests an individual is up to their discretion; a Red Notice is not an arrest warrant.

November 22, a source from police stated to OSEN, “We will be requesting that Interpol issue a Red Notice for Microdot’s parents. We are currently in the process of making the request. The Red Notice has not yet been issued.”

The source said that in addition to the Red Notice, they are trying to ask Microdot’s parents to voluntarily come into the station, but they haven’t been able to make contact.

The accusations of fraud against Microdot’s parents resurfaced earlier this week, when an alleged victim made a post online regarding the incident on November 19. An official complaint had been made to police in 1999, but the legal process came to a halt with a stay of prosecution when authorities were unable to locate Microdot’s parents.

Microdot, who had initially released a statement on November 19 saying he would be taking legal action against false rumors about his parents, apologized on November 20, saying that he wasn’t aware of the situation and that he would personally speak to the victims.

Meanwhile, the variety show “The Fisherman And The City,” in which Microdot is appearing, has canceled filming this week, and the production staff are currently discussing how to proceed.
