3 Things To Look Out For In BoA And Yoo Hee Yeol's "The Fan"

SBS revealed three keywords that viewers should look out for while watching their upcoming variety show “The Fan.”

“The Fan” is a fandom survival show. Celebrities such as Tiger JK, Yoon Mi Rae, Dok2, Han Chae Young, Superbee, 2PM’s Junho, Park So Hyun, Seo Hyo Rim, and more will recommend future star candidates, and viewers will evaluate the candidates and decide the final winner of the show.

1. Collaboration Between “K-Pop Star” and “Fantastic Duo” Producers

“The Fan” is gaining popularity after it was reported that PD Park Sung Hoon of “K-Pop Star” and PD Kim Young Wook of “Fantastic Duo” joined hands to produce the show. “K-Pop Star,” which premiered in 2011 and ran through six seasons, was known as the “nation’s audition program,” and “Fantastic Duo” broke new grounds in the music variety program genre with its unique format of allowing fans to sing with stars through just a single cellphone.

With the two PDs joining forces for “The Fan,” they are expected to create another sensation with their format and production that is like no other music variety show.

2. Fan Masters: BoA, Yoo Hee Yeol, Lee Sang Min, and Kim Yi Na

What sets “The Fan” apart from other music variety shows is the concept of “fan masters.” The fan masters are not judges who ultimately pass or fail the contestants. Instead, their role is to discover the charms and star qualities of the contestants, who will then perform for the viewers.

The fan masters of “The Fan” include “Korea’s top musician” Yoo Hee Yeol, “Asia’s star” BoA, “top producer of the 90s” Lee Sang Min, and “popular lyricist” Kim Yi Na.

3. Star-Studded Celebrity Lineup x Mystery Contestants

Viewers are looking forward to the star-studded lineup of stars such as Tiger JK, Yoon Mi Rae, Dok2, Han Chae Young, Superbee, 2PM’s Junho, Park So Hyun, Seo Hyo Rim, Simon Dominic, and Yoon Do Hyun. These celebrities will be recommending future star candidates for the show.

The first filming for “The Fan” apparently had everyone on set fired up as the contestants showed off their impressive skills and star power. Previously, the show had released teaser  clips of stars like BTS’s Jimin and Wanna One’s Daniel reacting to candidates on the show.
