The 2018 Melon Music Awards has released an official statement on Son Tae Young’s son sitting in the artists’ seats.

On December 3, the awards show commented, “An unfortunate incident occurred because the site was not regulated properly,” and added, “We express sincere apologies to the artists and fans who were in attendance. Using this instance as a learning lesson, we will be more careful with our operations in the future.”

Son Tae Young has continued to receive criticism from netizens regarding her son sitting in the artists’ section at the 2018 Melon Music Awards.

Previously, netizens brought issue to the fact that Son Tae Young’s son had received preferential treatment during the ceremony. Son Tae Young attended as a presenter, and her son was spotted sitting in the artists’ section. Her agency clarified that her son and a staff member entered right before her presentation and left right afterwards.

However, the actress has continued to receive criticism as her son and her niece were spotted in fancams during many artists’ performances but were not sitting in the artists’ section when Son Tae Young was actually presenting. As the fancams contradict the agency’s statement, netizens have continued to question whether her son received preferential treatment as well as the validity of her agency’s statement.

Son Tae Young’s agency and the Melon Music Awards have yet to comment further on the matter.
