2018 SBS Entertainment Awards Takes Highest Ratings In Time Slot Amidst Stiff Competition

Even amidst some tough competition from other networks, the 2018 SBS Entertainment Awards had an amazing night!

On December 28, SBS held its annual year-end award ceremony to celebrate this year’s greatest achievements in its variety programming and entertainment. Despite going up against the 2018 KBS Song Festival, MBC’s wildly popular variety show “I Live Alone,” and JTBC’s hit drama “SKY Castle,” all of which aired at the same time, the 2018 SBS Entertainment Awards was the most-watched program in its time slot.

According to Nielsen Korea, the broadcast of this year’s award ceremony took first place in its time slot after scoring average viewership ratings of 11.9 percent during its first half and 11.8 percent during its second half. The most-watched minute of the show was the moment when Lee Seung Gi was announced the winner of this year’s Daesang (grand prize), with viewership ratings peaking at an impressive 16.5 percent.

“I Live Alone,” which aired during the second half of the awards show, scored average nationwide ratings of 6.9 percent and 9.9 percent for the night, while “SKY Castle” drew an average viewership of 9.6 percent. Meanwhile, the 2018 KBS Song Festival scored average ratings of 5.1 percent, 6.5 percent, and 4.3 percent for its three parts.
