Chungha Talks About How Solo Debut Helped Her To Find Herself
Prior to her first 2019 comeback, Chungha talked about how she was able to find herself by debuting as a soloist!
In an interview with news1, Chungha agreed to the statement that she made the right decision to debut as a soloist after the end of I.O.I promotions.
The singer said, “I was able to find myself because I debuted as a soloist. Since more of my opinion gets applied to how I want to decorate a stage now compared to when I was in a group, I feel more responsible and serious about my performances.”
She continued, “We all lack time to think about ourselves. Many of us always focus on how we appear to others instead of who we want to be. I used to be like that too. However, it has changed since I started promoting as a soloist.”
According to the singer, one of the things that she realized about herself since she started promoting as a soloist is her voice. Chungha said, “While I was promoting as an I.O.I member, I didn’t have many lines in the songs. I also had to change my voice to fit in as a group. As a result, I didn’t get to listen to my own voice.”
She continued, “Nowadays, I try out different voices when recording. Same goes for dancing. I had many experiences dancing in a crew, but I never got to have a solo performance. Now that I’m trying out different things, I know which dance moves make me look the prettiest and shine the brightest.”
Chungha also briefly mentioned her upcoming track “Gotta Go.” The singer said, “I’m thrilled to be making my comeback as soon as the new year starts. I think it’s a big picture drawn by my agency to make the comeback at the beginning of the year. If it receives as much love as ‘Rollercoaster’ did, I would be very thankful.”
The singer concluded, “If Chungha from 2018 only focused on moving straight forward, 2019 Chungha will have to learn how to stop, look at other ways, and try out different roads. I will show you a new side of me with ‘Gotta Go,’ so please look forward to seeing new Chungha who will always be challenging herself.”
Chungha will make a comeback with “Gotta Go” on January 2 at 6 p.m. KST.
