BTS, TWICE, SEVENTEEN, And More Win At 2019 Japan Golden Disc Awards

The winners of the 33rd Japan Golden Disc Awards have been announced!

BTS was awarded the Album of the Year and Best 3 Albums (Asia Division) for their third full-length Japanese album “Face Yourself,” and their repackaged album “Love Yourself: Answer” also received the Best 3 Albums award. Additionally, BTS was chosen as the Best Asian Artist, and they also won the Best Music Videos for their “2017 BTS Live Trilogy Episode III: The Wings Tour In Japan ~ Special Edition ~ at KYOCERA DOME” DVD. In total, BTS received five awards, which is the highest number of awards the group has received at the Japan Golden Disc Awards.

Regarding their Best Asian Artist award, BTS shared, “We are very happy and honored to receive such a glorious award. We thank our ARMYs for loving us and supporting us. We also want to express our gratitude to all of our members, staff at Big Hit, producer Bang Si Hyuk, and our family. We are very glad to be able to announce such great news from the beginning of the year. We will do our best to return the love you have given us with even better [music].”

TWICE won the Best 3 Albums (Asia Division) with their first Japanese full-length album “BDZ” and the Song of the Year by Download with their second Japanese single “Candy Pop.” In the previous Japan Golden Disc Awards, TWICE had become the first Asian artist to win five awards as a rookie.

In response to their award for “BDZ,” TWICE stated, “Thank you for giving us such a grand award in continuation from last year. ‘BDZ’ is a long-awaited Japanese album that shows the various sides of TWICE. We created it with a heart full of gratitude to our fans, so we are very happy that it can remain as an album many people have listened to.”

SEVENTEEN, GFRIEND, and MOMOLAND won the Best 3 New Artists (Asia Division), and SEVENTEEN also received the New Artist of the Year (Asia Division) award.

SEVENTEEN expressed their thoughts on receiving two awards saying, “We are very honored to receive the ‘Best 3 New Artists’ and ‘New Artist of the Year’ awards even though it hasn’t even been a year since we debuted Japan. We thank Carats for always cheering for us, and we will [work hard to] release more stirring and consoling music.”

GFRIEND said, “Receiving this award will be a great source of motivation for our future activities. We will become an artist worthy of your support,” and MOMOLAND shared, “We are full of thankful feelings toward the Japanese people for loving our music even though it hasn’t been long since we debuted in Japan, and we are very honored. We will continue to promote often in Japan, and we will show you an even more energetic and powerful [MOMOLAND].”

The Japan Golden Disc Awards is held by the Recording Industry Association of Japan and awards artists who have contributed to the advancement of the music industry based on music and video sales each year. No ceremony is held for the awards.
