YG Responds To Conflicting Reports Of Seungri’s Enlistment Plans And Confirms Date
On March 8, Maeil Business Star Today reported that Seungri applied for the conscripted policeman selection examination at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency last month.
According to the report, Seungri went through an aptitude test and a physical examination to apply as a driving specialist. The results for the first round of examinations are reportedly coming out today on March 8. Among those who pass the first round, only a few will be selected to fulfill their military duties as conscripted policemen after a random draw, which will reportedly take place on March 12.
However, news outlet Edaily reported that Seugri will be enlisting as an active duty soldier. The report stated that the idol recently received his draft notice, and he will be enlisting at the Nonsan Army Training Center on March 25.
Edaily further relayed words from a representative of Seungri, who said, “It is true that Seungri applied to become a conscripted policeman. However, he gave up on it a long time ago after taking his various emotions into consideration.”
In response, a representative from YG confirmed that Seungri will be enlisting as an active duty soldier on March 25. They continued, “After checking with Seungri, it is true that he applied for the conscripted policeman selection examination at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on January 7. However, in order to not create any misunderstandings, even if he passes the first round, he will be withdrawing himself from the selection and enlisting as an active duty soldier.”
Meanwhile, Seungri underwent questioning about the various controversies and allegations surrounding him on February 27. These include the idol’s involvement in the operation of Burning Sun club, which was brought to the public’s attention after an assault incident by a club patron, and allegations of Seungri ordering sexual escort services for foreign business investors.
