Court Denies Son Seung Won’s Request For Drunk Driving Case + Prosecution Demands 4 Years In Prison

The court has denied Son Seung Won’s request for a conditional discharge for his drunk driving case.

On December 26, 2018, Son Seung Won caused a car accident while driving drunk and was caught by citizens while trying to flee the scene. He had no valid license at the time and his blood alcohol level was 0.206 percent. Also in the car as a passenger was actor Jung Hwi, and it was revealed later that Son Seung Won had originally asked the younger actor to take the blame for the accident.

Son Seung Won was charged with dangerous driving under the Additional Punishment Law on Specific Crimes and violating the Road Traffic Act by driving drunk and without a license.

On February 11, he attended his first trial and requested for a conditional discharge, but his request was denied. He attended his second trial at the Seoul Central District Court in the morning of March 14. Son Seung Won’s lawyer submitted his petition as an additional document, but he made no further legal arguments. The prosecution demanded 4 years in prison.
