fromis_9's Jang Gyuri And LOONA's Chuu Share Thoughts On Making Their Acting Debuts

fromis_9’s Jang Gyuri and LOONA’s Chuu recently talked about their upcoming acting debuts!

On May 10, a press conference was held for tvN D’s upcoming web drama “Compulsory Dating Education” (literal translation) with Jang Gyuri, Chuu, Oh Se Young, Kim Min Chul, KNK’s Park Seoham, Kim Dong Gyu, and director Choo Kang Suk in attendance.

The web drama tells the story of six newly admitted university students who are still awkward when it comes to dating. These students have to take “dating lessons” and then apply what they’ve learned by going on dates. Jang Gyuri will play Kang Ji Young, a happy-go-lucky and affectionate girl, while Chuu will take on the role of Han Eun Sol, a cute and trend-following girl.

On making her acting debut, Jang Gyuri commented, “I was really nervous because this is my first time acting. Although I am lacking, many people helped me out so I was able to happily film [the drama].”

Chuu also added, “I was surprised at the high-quality production that didn’t seem like a web drama. I’m taking on acting for the first time since my debut, and I want to thank the director and production staff who have given me this wonderful opportunity. Although I felt pressured since this is my first time acting, the atmosphere on set was great. I think I was able to successfully take my first steps [into acting].”

In regards to how he cast the actors for the drama, director Choo Kang Suk explained, “I’m sorry to the actors, but we couldn’t prepare the script during the first stage of the audition, so we talked about relationships and exchanged advice regarding relationships. So I heard the relationship stories of the six main actors. Like the characters said, ‘[the actors and roles] fit so well’ and ‘the chemistry is great,’ but there are also some differences from the characters. I think that’s what helped enhance the characters’ sense of depth and volume. They are rookies, but they have amazing acting skills, so I think they portrayed the characters well.”

“Compulsory Dating Education” will premiere on May 10 and air every Friday and Saturday on OllehTV Mobile, as well as tvN D STORY’s YouTube and Facebook channels.
