Apink's Jung Eun Ji Talks About Becoming Friends With INFINITE's Sungyeol + Learning Dialect From Son Ho Jun For New Film

In a recent interview for the new horror film “0.0MHz,” Apink’s Jung Eun Ji talked about her friendships with INFINITE’s Sungyeol and Son Ho Jun!

“0.0MHz” is based on a popular webtoon of the same name which was the foundation for last year’s popular film “Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum.” The film tells the story of members of a supernatural mystery club who visit an abandoned building to prove the existence of frequencies that attract ghosts and the strange happenings that occur to them during their stay. Jung Eun Ji plays the role of So Hee, a girl who has possessed the special ability to see ghosts since a young age.

During the interview, Jung Eun Ji talked about a particular scene she filmed with INFINITE’s Sungyeol. She shared, “There’s a scene in which Sungyeol chokes me. While he was choking me, he suddenly fainted. I wondered why he fainted when he was the one choking me.” She continued to explain, “Sungyeol said that since it was an emotionally intense scene, he ended up fainting while choking me. He also said he has anemia. That’s why his nickname on set was ‘paper.'”

Jung Eun Ji explained, “There were scenes in which he had to put strength into his face from time to time, and he would say that he was anemic to the point I wondered if I should get him vitamins.” She also said, “Sungyeol has a very odd charm. His anemia was surprising, but we got closer due to his anemia because we filmed the heavy scenes in the beginning. While filming other scenes, we laughed a lot because of the odd things he did.”

The actress also talked about having to learn the Jeolla dialect because she becomes possessed by a grandmother during the film. She shared, “I use the Jeolla dialect for the film, and it felt refreshing yet foreign. I’ve only used Gyeongsang dialect on screen before.”

She added, “I received recordings of the dialect from acquaintances. In particular, Son Ho Jun is from Gwangju, so I received a recording from him after I asked him to record one.” The two actors worked together back in 2014 for KBS’s “Trot Lovers” and have maintained their friendship ever since.

Jung Eun Ji said, “I was more satisfied with my Jeolla dialect acting than I thought I would be. The thing I was most worried about was the Jeolla dialect. I don’t know what the actual people from the Jeolla province will think, but I thought to myself, ‘It’s not bad.'”

“0.0MHz” will hit theaters on May 29. Watch the trailer for the upcoming horror film here!
